We suggest you go up to Huayna Picchu in the dry season (from April to October). During the rainy season it is a little more difficult. Anyway, the photos from this mountain will be perfect! Do not miss it!

Inca trail

The Inca Trail is the most famous trekking in South America, and in just 26 miles (43 km) you can enjoy views of impressive mountains, cloud forests, and an impressive Inca stone trail. The final destination of the route is Machu Picchu, the "Lost City of the Incas". Very early, tourists get up to watch the sunrise and visit the ruins.

To be part of the Inca Trail buy a tour with a travel agency and the necessary equipment. We suggest you obtain the entrance tickets to the Inca Trail in advance as it is subject to availability. If you have a physical disability, no problem, many people receive help from guides to complete the journey.

Sun Gate

Inti Punku, which in Quechua means "Puerta del Sol", is the famous gate found on the Inca Trail that connects to Machu Picchu. From here there is a beautiful view of the Machu Picchu mountain.

Sun Temple

The Temple of the Sun was used to honor and celebrate Inti, the Inca sun god. During the winter solstice, in June, sunlight enters through the central window, falling directly onto a large ceremonial stone.

At sunrise during the summer solstice, the sun's rays illuminate through the window the tower with a precision only the Incas could have executed. Although access to the interior of the temple is not allowed, the exterior architecture is spectacular in itself.

Temple of the Three Windows

The temple with the three windows is located in the royal sector, where the Inca Pachacutec may have remained with other members of the nobility.

The construction of this sanctuary is particularly long with heavy stones of more than 3 tons, which is a characteristic of Inca architecture.

The Temple of the Three Windows, together with the Main Temple and the Intihuatana, form what is called Bingham the Sacred Plaza.

He believed that the three windows that frame the distant mountains (previously five in total), represent the three mythological caves through which the Ayar Brothers “sons of the sun” entered the world.

Intihuatana

Also known as the "Solar Clock". It is a structure carved out of rock that in Inca times should have served as an astronomical calendar. Today it is known as "the rock that radiates energy". Thousands of visitors used to touch its structure and fill with solar energy. However, that is no longer allowed. Despite this, it is only enough to approach the place to feel the energy of Machu Picchu. To get to this venue, just follow the marked path that leads to the "Solar Clock". Only the entrance ticket to Machu Picchu is necessary to know this magical place. Entrance tickets must be reserved in time, especially in high season (from April to October).
